The primary material that we use in our manufacturing process is Fiberglass Reinforced Plastic.
FRP is a composite of glass fiber and thermosetting resin (usually polyester). Several layers of
glass mat or glass fabric are saturated with resin and laminated together on the surface of a mold to
create a shape that is very strong and light.
The finished product is surfaced in the mold with polyester gelcoat, which becomes an integral
part of the fiberglass laminate. A high gloss solid colour is the standard finish but Plastiglas
has innovated many others (e.g. granite, limestone, terra cotta, etc.).
